Embellishment Storage

Last Updated 10/14/09

From Mary [waldriff1950@yahoo.com] I started using those organizers with all the little drawers that you find in the hardware stores. I have one with 50 drawers (ten drawers high, five across). I have lots of diecut flowers in it, charms, small diecuts, odds and ends of small things, some in tiny bags, most of it just loose in the drawers. And with the clear drawers, you can see at a glance what you have in the drawers. It's good for tags, buttons, card candy, just about anything small.

All my other major embellishments that can be sorted by topic go into boxes. I've invested in 14 x 14 x 4 brown boxes from Highsmith for some of my 12x12 papers and embellishments like heritage, fall/Thanksgiving, etc.

I also have some of those inexpensive 6x5 photo albums to hold HM tags.

I also use binders, but I've found some very large pocket holders for a 12x12 ring binder. I have lots of border strips in them, titles, etc. My other resource is three former photo albums with 4x6 pockets. These are working out very well for me for lots of smaller embellishments. Finally, for really small items, I have several plastic pocket protectors that had a previous life as slide holders.

These are very small pockets like 1.5 square and are great for deco squares and assorted small paper items. Its probably hard to find these any more, as no one takes slides. I rescued them from the trash where I had worked for 30 years. Mary

From Me: - I am currently using a set of drawers to store my small (buttons, charms, brads, eyelets, etc) embellishments in, and that is working out great for me.

Melissa Rhodes [geauxtigerrs@yahoo.com] - I put my embellishments by themes in a Cropper Hopper page holder. The kind you use for pages in progress that are 12x12. They work great for me. I keep them by theme then put they stack in a horizontal mail sorter.

If you can use some, I bought a big bunch at the thrift shop a while back, and they do need a home.
